K-pop sensation NewJeans—made up of Hanni, Minji, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein—opened up following the court’s decision in favor of agency ADOR in their ongoing legal dispute.
In a March 26th video titled “Why NewJeans Halted NJZ Activities” posted on BBC News Korea’s official YouTube channel, the group revealed their emotional response to the court’s injunction ruling.
Danielle recalled, “I was obviously expecting the alternative result… I think it was a moment where we were all kind of in shock,” expressing how blindsided they felt by the ruling.
Hyein added, “We’ve held it in for so long, and we finally spoke up about the unfairness we experienced—but socially, things don’t seem to be turning in our favor.” Danielle echoed that sentiment with a heartfelt plea: “We just really want to be able to work and do the work we love without these misleading and false lies getting in the way.”
Hanni voiced the group’s biggest concern. “Not being able to do this work—I think that’s such an obvious biggest fear for us,” she shared. “We did not know we were going to go through this two years ago. We don’t know what’s in the future. Maybe there might be a case where we’re not able to work, and that is something we wanna avoid.”
