The finale of JTBC’s Wednesday drama Family by Choice brought joy and resolution as Kim San Ha (Hwang In Youp), Yoon Joo Won (Jung Chae Yeon), Kang Hae Joon (Bae Hyeon Seong), Yoon Jung Jae (Choi Won Young), and Kim Dae Wook (Choi Moo Sung) finally came together as a happy, united family. The heartfelt conclusion left viewers smiling with its tightly wrapped happy ending.
In Episode 15, the drama explored the contrasting reactions of the two fathers when they learned about Kim San Ha and Yoon Joo Won’s budding romance. While Kim Dae Wook welcomed the news with open arms, Yoon Jung Jae couldn’t hide his worries for the two. To win his approval, Kim San Ha and Yoon Joo Won enlisted Kim Dae Wook’s help, but Yoon Jung Jae remained unconvinced. Matters worsened when Kim San Ha’s mother, Kwon Jung Hee (Kim Hye Eun), approached Yoon Joo Won and demanded they break up.
Caught in the turmoil, Yoon Joo Won sought clarity by asking Yoon Jung Jae, “What is love?” This introspection led her to realize the depth of her feelings for Kim San Ha and embrace their love wholeheartedly.
The final episode brought the long-awaited resolution, with Yoon Jung Jae finally giving his blessing to Kim San Ha and Yoon Joo Won’s relationship. It also featured another heart-fluttering romance as Kang Hae Joon accepted Park Dal’s (Suh Ji Hye) feelings, marking the beginning of a fresh and sweet new couple.
Additionally, a touching reunion occurred between Yoon Jung Jae and Kang Hae Joon’s mother, Kang Seo Hyun (Baek Eun Hye). After years of just “knowing” each other, the two found their way back to each other.
As the story closed, Kim San Ha, Yoon Joo Won, and Kang Hae Joon walked arm in arm, just as they had 20 years ago, their bright smiles promising a future filled with hope and togetherness. Family by Choice left viewers cheering for the three young hearts as they move forward into the next chapter of their lives.
