BTS members Jimin and Jungkook have once again proven their global influence, with both artists securing nominations for the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs). On October 8th, MTV announced that both Jimin and Jungkook are contenders for the “Best K-Pop” category, showcasing BTS’s continued dominance at the prestigious European awards show.
Since the category’s introduction in 2019, BTS has been the most awarded act, but this year marks a special moment as both Jimin and Jungkook are nominated as solo artists, highlighting their individual achievements outside the group.
Joining the BTS duo in the K-pop spotlight is BLACKPINK’s Lisa, who emerged as the K-pop artist with the most nominations this year. Lisa is up for four categories, including “Best Video” and “Best Collaboration” for her track “New Woman,” featuring Spanish superstar Rosalía. She’s also in the running for “Best K-Pop” and “Biggest Fans.”
Fourth-generation K-pop sensation LE SSERAFIM is also making waves, earning nominations in three categories: “Best New,” “Best K-Pop,” and “Best Push.” The group faces stiff competition in the “Best New” category, where they’ll compete against rising global stars like Ayra Starr, Chappell Roan, Tyla, and Teddy Swims.
Meanwhile, NewJeans has secured another nomination for “Best K-Pop,” marking their second consecutive year on the MTV EMA list. The group continues to rise as a force to be reckoned with on the international stage.
The MTV Europe Music Awards, which first began in 1994, honors the most popular songs and music videos across Europe. This year’s awards ceremony will take place on November 10th at Co-op Live in Manchester, England.
