ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo choked up while recalling his late bandmate Moonbin during the May 8th broadcast of tvN’s variety show You Quiz on the Block.
“Last year was a very difficult time for me,” Cha Eun Woo confessed. “I wrote the lyrics for our new album, and I had so much to say. So I spent every day and night filming, writing, and recording. People tend to forget things too quickly. So I wondered how I could keep his memory alive. I cried as I wrote the lyrics. I still can’t sing that song. I felt so guilty. I questioned whether I deserved to eat or sleep. He often appears in my dreams.”
He continued, “Honestly, I don’t like being asked if I’m okay. I don’t want to say I’m okay, and I don’t want to say I’m not okay either. I think that might be why I was so nervous today. I didn’t want to appear okay or not okay.”
“The approach I’ve chosen for my life is to ‘do better and live better.’ That’s why I’m working hard. I think he would want that too. There’s a line in the last episode of Wonderful World that really resonates with me. Everyone has their own pain, right? The part that says, ‘May all those who carry the pain of loss find comfort, and may the world be a little kinder to them,’ really struck me.”
“I think I’ll have to carry that with me for the rest of my life. Instead, I should live even harder. I feel like I need to live Moonbin’s share as well. More than anything, I thought that if I could pull myself together and work hard, my surroundings wouldn’t crumble. My agency told me I could rest, but I wanted to do it, so I ended up doing Wonderful World. I think I wanted to do it because the background of the drama’s melody is similar to mine and it reminds me of my friend.”

Cha Eun Woo also recorded a video letter to Moonbin. He said, “Moonbin, how are you doing? I miss you. Don’t worry, I’ll do everything I can to fulfill my role for you. Until we meet again, goodbye.“
