7 Korean Stars Set to Complete Military Service in 2024

Cha Seo Won

Cha Seo Won, famous for his role in the MBC drama The Second Husband, started his military service in November 2022 and is expected to finish on May 21st, 2024. In October of the same year, he happily shared the news of welcoming a healthy baby boy with actress Uhm Hyun Kyung. The couple found love while working together on Miss Lee in 2019 and is planning to get married after he gets discharged in May 2024.

Nam Joo Hyuk

Nam Joo Hyuk gained immense popularity this year through the Disney Plus series Vigilante. Having enlisted in the military on March 30th, 2023, he is currently fulfilling his military duty as a member of the Special Military Police under the Military Police Agency. His expected discharge date is September 19th, 2024.

Jinyoung from GOT7 enlisted as an active-duty soldier in May 2023. Known for his excellent acting skills cultivated through years of child actor roles, he received recognition for his performance in the movie Christmas Carol. He won two awards at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards, including Best New Actor and TikTok Popularity awards. Furthermore, he performed Jeon Somi’s “Fast Forward,” Wanna One’s “Energetic,” and NewJeans’s “Super Shy,” with Nam Joo Hyuk, Jinyoung, Minhyuk, Ha Sung Woon, and Ong Seong Wu at this year’s October Ground Forces Cultural Festival. Jinyoung is expected to be discharged in November 2024.

Ong Seong Wu

Ong Seong Wu wrapped up filming for Strong Girl Nam-soon in April and enlisted as an active-duty soldier in the military. Debuting as the fifth-place finalist on Mnet’s Produce 101 Season 2 in 2017, he became a member of Wanna One. Just two months ago, he appeared on a YouTube V_LOG for the 2023 National Military Job Fair and shared updates on his life. He will be discharged on October 13th, 2024.

MONSTA X’s Minhyuk

MONSTA X’s Minhyuk began his military service as an active-duty soldier in April 2023. Before going to the military, Minhyuk explained that he plans to sell his cherished belongings through an auction, with all proceeds donated. He is set to complete his military duty on September 30th, 2024.

BTS’s Jin

Jin enlisted in the military on December 13th, 2022 and is currently serving as an instructor at the 5th Infantry Division Recruit Training Center in Gyeonggi Province. Jin was promoted to sergeant two months ahead of schedule after being recognized for his exceptional performance in the military. He greeted V, Jimin, RM, and Jungkook during their enlistment and will be the first BTS member to be discharged on June 12th, 2024. The group is expected to resume activities in June 2025.

BTS’s J-Hope

J-Hope, the second BTS member in uniform, joined the 36th Division of the Army Training Center in Wonju in April 2023. On Suga’s YouTube show, he shared his grand plans for the six months after he gets discharged in 2024. J-Hope is set to complete his military service on October 17th, 2024.
