Seo In Guk and Park So Dam shared their thoughts on their roles in upcoming drama Death’s Game.
At the drama’s press event held on December 13th, director Ha Byung Hoon, Seo In Guk, Park So Dam, Kim Ji Hoon, Choi Si Won, Sung Hoon, Kim Kang Hoon, Jang Seung Jo, Lee Jae Wook, Go Yoon Jung, Kim Jae Wook, and Kim Mi Kyung attended the event.
Seo In Guk stated, “Portraying any character always comes with its own set of challenges. Many other actors have also given excellent performances as Choi Yi Jae in this work. Being the first to embody the character, I can imagine it might have been challenging for them to find their own expression while keeping the character consistent. Moreover, as I had to narrate over their performances due to multiple people playing one character, I had discussions with the director about capturing the essence of Choi Yi Jae.”
He added, “Everyone here helped us a lot with their excellent work. The character Choi Yi Jae goes through life and death 12 times. Even before that, he lets go of his own life and confronts death while clinging to hope. It was truly enjoyable to portray such a multi-faceted character.”
Park So Dam looked back on the time when she was receiving treatment for thyroid cancer. She said, “Honestly, there were tough times. Those who’ve been through similar pain will get it. Even when things seem okay emotionally and physically, there can be sudden ups and downs. When I got offered this project, it was during a time when I temporarily lost my voice due to surgery. The director said, ‘If you have enough time, you can do it. This project will help you heal.’ It really gave me the courage.”
She continued, “I couldn’t control the ups and downs, but when I stepped on stage or in front of the camera, this superhero strength kicked in. Many people helped me until I stood in front of the camera. also got a lot of support. You’ll see the best version of everyone in this drama.”
