The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract is a time-slip romance series set in the 19th century. It follows Park Yeon Woo (Lee Se Young), a girl who tragically loses her husband on their first night together and is thrown into a well. And somehow, she’s transported to the year 2023. In this new era, she meets Kang Tae Ha (Bae In Hyuk), the emotionless interim heir to SH Seoul, and enters into a contract marriage with him. Returning to the historical genre two years after The Red Sleeve, Lee Se Young will once again embrace a character from the Joseon era.
On the other hand, My Demon is a fantasy romance drama. Although both dramas revolve around contract marriages, their themes differ significantly. This series centers around the devil-like heiress Do Do Hee (Kim Yoo Jung) and the demon Goo Won (Song Kang), who suddenly loses his powers. More than anything, the collaboration of Kim Yoo Jung and Song Kang has gotten the anticipation through the roof.
Both shows boast robust scripts and stellar casts. Based on the webtoon of the same name, The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract is helmed by director Park Sang Hoon, the mind behind Radiant Office and My Secret Terrius. In contrast, My Demon tells an original story, coming from Do You Like Brahms? director Jang Han and Mr. Queen writer Choi Ah Il.
One more thing: The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract rides on the success of the recently-concluded series My Dearest. Conversely, My Demon follows the controversially provocative The Escape of the Seven.
Meanwhile, The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract is slated for premiere at 9:50 PM KST today, while My Demon will broadcast ten minutes later at 10 PM KST.
