Cha Eun Woo has recently been honored with the Global Icon Award at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2023 (MTV VMAJ 2023), held at the K-Arena in Yokohama, Japan, on the 22nd.
As the first Asian artist to receive the award, Cha Eun Woo expressed his gratitude, saying, “I think I got this valuable award thanks to the support and love from Aroha (ASTRO fans). I will show you a better side of me as a way to repay your support.”
Cha further brightened the ceremony with a special performance after accepting the award. He sang a newly arranged version of ASTRO’s 2021 Japanese track “Say Goodbye to My Favorite Person” (1番好きな人にサヨナラを言おう), impressing the fans who visited the venue.
Cha, actively engaging in both domestic and international activities, solidified his popularity by holding a solo fan meeting tour “2022 Just One 10 Minute Starry Caravan” across five Asian countries, including Korea and Japan, attracting approximately 50,000 global fans.
His current role as Jin Seo Won in the MBC Wednesday drama A Good Day to Be a Dog has been well-received globally. The series topped the charts in 93 countries, including the United States and Europe, on the Rakuten Viki OTT platform in its first week and continued to dominate OTT charts in 16 countries across Asia, the Middle East, and South Africa.
