On the 12th, V guest-starred on IU‘s YouTube music show “IU’s Palette,” stirring up fans.

Fresh off the release of his debut solo album Layover on the 8th, the BTS member explained his appearance on the show, saying, “The fans really wanted it. I had some hesitations due to my promotion schedule, but IU promised to create a legendary stage and make it one of the best things I’ve done in 2023.”

IU, who shares a close friendship with V, opened up about her thoughts on his new project. “It seems a lot of people were surprised after hearing the album, asking, ‘V has this kind of voice to him?’ I’ve always known V had a taste for jazz and classical, but when I heard the album, I was like, ‘Wow, he’s really doing what he wants to do. He’s doing what he’s best at,'” she said.

For his part, V confessed, “People close to me already knew, but the fans were definitely surprised. This is the first time I’ve really showcased my work. The fans’ positive feedback is the most memorable.” However, he was empathetic towards fans who might miss his role within BTS. “It’s been about two years since they’ve seen me in that role, so I understand if they miss it. But that’s also why I named my album ‘Layover’—it represents my journey from the starting point to the final destination, and I wanted to show my colors along the way.”

The album, which V described as a portrayal of his genuine self, posed without makeup for the concept photos. “I was relaxing at home when the producer called. I went out for a meal, but a camera was there, so I just did a spontaneous shoot right then and there. The atmosphere was so good, I got all pumped, too,” the idol shared.

Not to forget, V first forayed into acting back in 2016 with the drama Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth. When asked if he planned to return to acting, he was candid: “Yes, I want to do a thriller.” He added, “Watching The End of the F***ing World changed my entire perspective on acting. That’s what I bring up whenever I get asked about roles I want to play.”

As for his affection for his ARMY fans, V couldn’t be more straightforward. “When I’m bored, I often ponder, ‘What are the ARMYs up to?’ Then I’ll check in on them and time just flies by. I think my personality has changed thanks to them,” he lovingly mentioned.
