Get ready to meet the new Lim Ji Yeon in The Killing Vote.

SBS’s The Killing Vote tells a riveting tale of a mysterious figure, “the Executioner,” who conducts a national death penalty vote against heinous criminals. With well-regarded actors like Park Hae Jin, Park Sung Woong, and Lim Ji Yeon all partaking in the drama, anticipation for the show is building.

Discussing her decision to join the project, Lim Ji Yeon said, “The title ‘The Killing Vote’ intrigued me from the start. The concept of a drama centered around public participatory judgment was fresh and exciting. I often read social issues news and enjoy crime thriller genres, so I found the script fascinating. Also, the character Joo Hyun, who acts without hesitation, appealed to me.”

In the drama, Lim takes on the role of Joo Hyun, a righteous yet somewhat quirky cop. She described her character: “Joo Hyun is a 5-year veteran of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Cyber Safety Division. At one point, she was the ace of the cyber investigation team, but now, she’s a troublemaker.” She added, “Her righteousness is attractive, and her quirky personality shines. It’s different from other roles I’ve played recently, yet it could be the most relatable one, so I look forward to showing this new side of me.”

Indeed, Joo Hyun is a character quite different from the intense roles she has previously portrayed. She explained, “Rather than trying to erase the image from previous works or to show a drastically changed image, I’ve tried to show the real Joo Hyun. To some extent, Joo Hyun feels more approachable than the characters I’ve played recently.” Lim continued, “I wanted to create a Joo Hyun that was quintessentially me by adding her unique quirkiness and righteousness to my own style,” showing her dedication to the role.

The actress added, “Through the righteous Joo Hyun, I hope the audience can feel a sense of satisfaction. I wanted to capture the lovable and quirky aspects only Joo Hyun can bring to a potentially dark-toned work. And I wanted to show the image of an active and relentless police officer.”

Meanwhile, The Killing Vote premieres on August 10th, with the first two episodes airing consecutively at 9 PM KST.
