HBO Releases New Trailer for ‘The Idol’ Featuring Jennie, Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd

HBO has announced that its new series The Idol, which will premiere on June 4 at 9 PM.

The series has been selected for the out of competition section of this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

The trailer starts with a question about when was the last time the industry saw a truly nasty pop girl, followed by a clip of Britney Spears’s “Gimme More.”

The show follows the story of Jocelyn, played by Lily-Rose Depp, a fame-hungry young woman who meets a powerful, sex-obsessed cult leader named Tedros, portrayed by Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye.

The Weeknd and Sam Levinson of Euphoria co-directed the show, which also stars Troye Sivan, Dan Levy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Eli Roth, Hari Nef, Jane Adams, Jennie Ruby Jane, Mike Dean, Moses Sumney, Rachel Sennott, Ramsey, Suzanna Son, and Hank Azaria.
