After topping Billboard Hot 100, getting nominated for Grammys, and winning the AMAs, BTS members have started the second chapter of focusing on solo careers. And as a part of this new chapter, Jimin posed for Vogue Korea and had an honest interview.

Over the past two years, BTS has amassed a truly remarkable record of achievements. However, rather ironically, Jimin himself had begun to feel as though he was experiencing a creative plateau during this period. “The past two years have turned out to be almost endless. I’m still young, but for most of my life all I’ve done is perform on stage,” Jimin looked back. “The lack of feedback from a live audience was discouraging. I worked hard, but nothing felt quite right, and everything seemed like a rehearsal. It just didn’t feel real. During our recent concerts, I kept thinking, ‘Is this OK? Can I keep on doing this? Is this what we’ve been working toward?'”

While the clock for BTS slowed down, Jimin took that time to get more intimate with himself. “I thought about myself – what I liked, what I didn’t like, what my preferences were. I had a lot of time for reflection, and I learned a lot,” the singer reflected.

In Korean culture, stars are expected to stay humble and refrain from showing off too much. “It might just be because I’m young, but I find it hard to open up to friends other than fellow BTS members,” said Jimin. “I often feel pretentious, and I don’t like it. It’s nice to be able to be completely honest when talking to other members.”

Though Jimin is known for his impeccable vocal range and unique tone, he’s still looking for ways to perfect his singing techniques. “It’s difficult for me to be satisfied with my voice. Songs that require a lot of technique, which I like, are difficult to nail and hard to sing when performing live, so I’m trying to find an alternative. I was focusing on having my own unique style before developing a solid foundation,” he commented. “So, I’m going back to the beginning. I’m trying to keep it simple and straightforward. This process is tough but also enjoyable because I’m able to go over everything with Jung Kook, who’s doing an excellent job as the main vocalist.”

Meanwhile, Jimin will drop his solo debut album FACE on the 25th. A non-title track “Set Me Free Pt.2” will be pre-released on the 17th.
