Yoo Teo dished on his new Netflix series Love to Hate You in his interview.

Love to Hate You is a lethal opposite-attract rom-com about a woman who morbidly hates losing to men and a man who is morbidly suspicious of women. In the show, Yoo Teo plays Nam Kang Ho, an A-list actor who distrusts women,

The actor had to shoot kissing scenes with various characters for the series. “It wasn’t difficult, actually,” Yoo Teo confessed. “After I finished filming, I realized that I kissed Oh Se Na (Lee Joo Bin), Yeo Mi Ran (Kim Ok Vin), and even Do Won Joon (Kim Ji Hoon). So I just laughed to myself.”

About his kissing scene with Kim Ji Hoon, he shared, “I just thought, ‘It’s time. Let’s do a good job.’ I thought hard about how to make it funny. Neither of us had a problem (with the kiss), and we just had fun. The director liked it so much on the set, so we filmed the scene for like 10 times – he made us do it over and over again.”

The actor also mentioned what it was like starring opposite Kim Ok Vin. “I was just grateful,” he commented. “She’s a veteran, and I’ve known her for a long time. We met for the first time in the movie Actresses. I know better than anyone else where I stand as an actor, so my co-star can go, ‘I don’t know him.’ But Ok Vin never once doubted me and just laid her trust in me.” He added, “Seeing her jump around on the set as the character that she made felt just so beautiful. I don’t know how to explain it in words, but working with her was such a delight.”

Yoo Teo then went on to introduce his role Nam Kang Ho. “I had to make sure that how this character hates and doubts women because of his trauma doesn’t feel grotesque. It’s a rom-com series, so he had to look adorable.” He then explained that the writer told him to study Hyun Bin in Secret Garden. “I knew the show, so I got what the writer wanted. I watched the series again, and it was good.”

“I always remember that scene – Hyun Bin looking down from his department store. It has that unique Hyun Bin vibe. So I wanted to take a little bit of that,” he continued. “It’s a genre I’ve never tried before, and I was born and raised in Europe, so I need a role model to study the typicality that works in Korea. I will start there and try to find my own thing.”

Meanwhile, Love to Hate You was released on Netflix on the 10th.
