Today, tvN’s new Monday-Tuesday drama Our Blooming Youth held its press conference, which Director Lee Jong Jae, Park Hyung Sik, Jeon So Nee, Pyo Ye Jin, Yoon Jung Suk, and Lee Tae Seon attended.
Set to premiere on the 6th, Our Blooming Youth is a mystery historical romance drama that deals with the story of a crown prince who is under a mysterious curse and a genius girl who is accused of murdering a family.
This marks Park Hyung Sik’s first historical drama since the 2017 drama Hwarang. He shared, “I’ve tried a historical series before, but I’ve never worn a crown prince’s robe before. It was my first time wearing it, and it got worn out after shooting in it for so long. At some point, it looked like an old robe. I was really comfortable in it later on.”
Previously, Do Kyung Soo, Park Bo Gum and Lee Junho gained popularity by playing a crown prince in historical dramas. About his role Yi Hwan, Park Hyung Sik explained, “He was an innocent, honest kid with much love for others, but having experienced many events, he ended up becoming someone who doesn’t trust anybody. But he starts solving problems with Jae Yi and grows as a man.”
Jeon So Nee showed affection for her role Jae Yi. “Jae Yi goes through a lot of different emotions and situations in the story. As an actress, I of course had the desire to experience various things,” the actress introduced. “It was satisfying to experience so many different things as Jae Yi and Sun Dol. The job I found (as Sun Dol) was an eunuch. I even dress up as a guy.”
Meanwhile, Our Blooming Youth was originally a drama based on a popular Chinese web novel. However, with the cancellation of Josen Exorcist due to the controversy over distortion of history, it changed its production into an original series, but the gist of the story is the same. So there’s still potential for a controversy to surface, but there was no mention of it during the press conference.
