Yeon Sang Ho‘s new movie Jung_E will be released on Netflix.

Jung_E is an upcoming dystopian sci-fi thriller written and directed by Train to Busan director Yeon Sang Ho. In the 22nd century, climate change has caused the planet to become uninhabitable and humans fight a war in the man-made shelter. The story follows the people who developed the best A.I. combat warrior by cloning the brain of the legendary mercenary Jung E.

The released on-set stills show a glimpse into the Kronoid Research Institute, the main space of Jung_E. The first thing that catches the eye is the space with huge structures, where A.I. combat warrior Jung_E undergoes battle simulations. Then there is a monitoring area inside the institute where the researchers scrutinize every detail of Jung_E.

The cameras placed in the elaborately created filming set and the staff show the sweat and effort of those who worked hard to complete a high-quality project. The last one is the photo of a robot’s head with the code name “Jung_E” printed on it, heightening expectations.

Director Yeon Sang Ho expressed his satisfaction. “Even though the SF genre isn’t often tried in Korea, the know-how on creating the sets is actually at a high level. I was surprised that all the crew implemented (the details) of the filming set as veterans.”

Meanwhile, Jung_E will be released on Netflix on the 20th.
