20th Century Girl ranked second on the list of Netflix’s global Top 10 non-English shows just three days after its release. The movie soared to the TOP 10 list in 33 countries, including Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Brazil and Mexico.

In response, Netflix released a special poster to repay the love and support received by global fans. The poster features Han Hyo Joo, who plays the grown-up version of Bora, reminiscing the bygone memory of her younger self (Kim Yoo Jung) and Poong Woon Ho (Byeon Woo Seok) while looking at an old picture of them. The photo of them smiling makes us flutter with emotions, and her wistful gaze hints at how she feels about the memory.

Various South Korean news media platforms poured in praises for the new movie upon its release. The Daily Sports wrote, “The movie awakens forgotten feelings and memories we have of ourselves with the keyword of observation and first love.” Star News also praised the movie, stating, “The movie is like a wistful yet sweet video message sent from the 20th century to the 21st century.”

Viewers also left favorable reviews on the movie. One user wrote, “The story of the two made me smile throughout the entire movie as it was about the friendship and love that we can only taste at a certain age.” Another viewer commented, “This film astonishingly well captured the flutters and feelings we’ve all gotten in our teens.”
