The Zone: Survival Mission met with viewers around the world.
The new Disney Plus original adventure show The Zone follows the cast members as they survive in the virtual space that changes every episode. The first three episodes – “Eye Zone,” “Water Zone,” and “Virus Zone” – were released on the 8th. The three cast members, who were delighted at first after learning about only 4 hours of filming, were soon struggling for their survival.
In the first episode, “Eye Zone,” Yoo Jae Suk, Lee Kwang Soo, and Kwon Yuri were given the mission of “Stay out of sight.” When faced with the eye, water bombs were thrown at them in cold winter weather. They could get cold weather gear, but only if they completed the missions. Dripping wet, the three had to survive in the blizzarding wind until the very last minute.
In the second and third episodes, the cast was put in the “Water Zone” and “Virus Zone.” The water episode showed them trying to maintain the water level in the midst of Lee Yi Kyung, Yoo Min Sang, and Song Young Gil’s interruptions. In the third episode, they had to survive from the zombies roaming in a place decorated to look like the Joseon Dynasty, just like the Netflix series Kingdom.
Not only did The Zone give big laughter, just as a variety show should, but it also conveyed meaningful messages: climate change (Eye Zone), the importance of water (Water Zone), and the importance of quarantine in the era of the pandemic (Virus Zone).
Meanwhile, The Zone will release new episodes every Wednesday on Disney Plus.
