Netflix released the main trailer for Money Heist: Korea �” Joint Economic Area.
Set against the backdrop of the Korean Peninsula ahead of unification, this Korean remake of Money Heist depicts the unimaginable heist of a genius strategist and people with different personalities and abilities.
A man called Professor (Yoo Ji Tae) shows up in front of Tokyo (Jeon Jong Seo), who has tasted the bitterness of capitalism. Wanting to smash this world where only the rich get richer, The Professor plans a heist of 4 trillion KRW (about $3.23 billion) from the Mint that includes hostage-taking. And for this, he gathers people with different abilities.
At the signal of genius hacker Rio (Lee Hyun Woo), the gang bursts into the Mint with their Hahoetal Masks and takes over the building. Additionally, Berlin (Park Hae Soo), in charge of the field command, divides the hostages according to their origins, South Korea and North Korea. South Korean negotiator Seon Woo Jin (Kim Yun Jin) and North Korean special agent Cha Mu Hyeok (Kim Sung Oh) are soon dispatched to the scene.
However, variables such as the unexpected behaviors of the frightened hostages and unintended feuds within the gang add to the confusion, resulting in the conflicts within the TF team.
Writer Ryu Yong Jae said, “I thought it would be interesting if we could tell more stories about how there are trust, doubts, betrayals, and cooperation within the police and the robbers in the Korean Peninsula.”
Meanwhile, Money Heist: Korea �” Joint Economic Area will be released on Netflix on June 24th.
