TV Chosun’s new drama The Witch Is Alive was embroiled in controversy over assaulting a resident.
On the 30th, an official from the production team released an official statement, “It wasn’t the producer who had a conflict with the residents, but the driver of our rental vehicle for our cameras. The two sides are making different claims, so we’re closely looking into the situation.”
However, he apologized for causing concerns and added, “We’ll manage better at the scenes.”
Earlier, a person posted on an online community that he was assaulted by The Witch Is Alive staff member. Explaining that he and his mother had a conflict with a staff member who had his car parked in front of his house, the writer wrote, “That person cussed at my mother. He said XXXX to my mother, so I tried to stop him, but he punched my arm.”
The post is now deleted.
Meanwhile, The Witch Is Alive tells the story of three friends from different backgrounds encountering enemies they’d like to kill. The show, starring Lee Yoo Ri, Lee Min Young, and Yoon So Yi, will premiere in June.
