Seo Kang Joon began his career as a fashion model before he made his acting debut in 2013 with the web drama After School: Lucky or Not. Following that, he starred in a one-act play named Drama Festival – Haneuljae’s Murde (2013) as a young man who falls in love with his mother-in-law. Then he appeared in a mini-series called Cunning Single Lady (2014) as a second-generation chaebol who has a crush on his mentor’s ex-wife. Early in his career, Seo Kang Joon played many roles with extreme narratives and gradually made his way into stardom taking on various roles.

As he slowly gained popularity for the dramas and variety shows he starred in, Seo Kang Joon took on the iconic role in Cheese in the Trap (2016) as Baek In Ho, an arrogant and carefree young man who is always looking for a job. In it, In Ho is described as a boy born with exceptional musical talent, but he loses his dream and happiness due to an accident with his hand he should play the piano with. In the live-action adaptation, his role got bigger than expected, adding further tension to the love triangle among Yoo Jung (Park Hae Jin), Hong Seol (Kim Go Eun) and In Ho.

In the drama Are You Human? (2018) that tells a story about artificial intelligence, Seo Kang Joon played both a human and a robot role in the same play. He portrayed two distinct characters: a human who suffers from memory loss and a robot with sociopathic behaviors who pretends to be the man. Seo Kang Joon received many favorable views for his performance in the drama and won the Excellence Award ” Long Drama at the 2018 KBS Drama Awards.

In the psychological thriller drama Watcher (2019), he took on the role of a mobile patrol officer named Kim Young Hun. Seo Kang Joon did a great job of portraying the state of mind of the officer who got traumatized after witnessing a murder. In addition, he pulled off some impressive and challenging stunts by himself. Notably, he received great responses for his emotional acting when he faced the culprit who murdered his family.

He later joined Park Min Young in the romance drama When the Weather Is Fine (2020) as a young man who runs a bookstore in a quiet secluded town. Seo Kang Joon did an amazing job of delicately getting across the character’s emotions.

Although Seo Kang Joon got enlisted on November 23rd, you will soon be able to see him in works that he has already shot. First, he will star in the movie A YEAR-END MEDLEY as Lee Kang, a struggling musician who becomes extremely popular overnight. And in the first half of 2022, he will play Kim Sae Ha, a government employee who digs for the truth about a mysterious figure, in Disney + original sci-fi thriller Grid. I look forward to seeing him again once he finishes his duty safely and makes his TV return.

Editor Seo Hayne: I like actors as they faithfully lead through their long running-time. I also like idols who accomplish everything on stage within 3 minutes.
