On the 25th, BIFF announced that they’ve decided to launch the new program, On Screen section, for the first time in Asia. The section screens highly-anticipated TV series that will be streamed via online video streaming platforms (Over-the-Top, hereinafter OTT).

There are only a handful of leading film festivals around the world, such as the Venice International Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival, that operate a section similar to the On Screen section. Standing shoulder to shoulder with them, BIFF’s On Screen will be an agile and leading example for another perspective on cinema.

The first-ever invitations for On Screen went out to Yeon Sang Ho’s Hellbound, Kim Jin Min’s My Name, and Anucha Boonyawatana and Josh Kim’s Forbidden. Hellbound and My Name are Netflix original series, while Forbidden is the new HBO ASIA original series.
