A sequel to the movie Space Sweepers is beginning its pre-production.
According to the movie industry on the 17th, VFX supervisor Jung Sung Jin and Jung Chul Min, who led the VFX work in the previous film, will join the sequel of Space Sweepers. The two are the ones who reviewed the possibility of implementing the technology from the planning stage of the film and made it possible to combine reality and VFX. Meanwhile, the film won the Arts division at the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards.
Space Sweepers, directed by Cho Sung Hee, opened a new era with Korean SF movies. The movie ranked first in the Top 10 on Netflix, with 26 million households watching the film in 28 days of its release. The production company, Bi Dan Gil, will plan to make a Space Sweepers series, including a sequel with VFX supervisors Jung Sung Jin and Jung Chul Min.
However, it has yet to be decided whether the sequel will be released on Netflix or in theaters. It is also unclear whether the cast of Space Sweepers, including Song Joong Ki, Kim Tae Ri, Yoo Hae Jin, and Jin Sun Kyu, will join the sequel.
