SHINee’s Taemin will join the army on May 31st and fulfill his military duty.
On Monday, Taemin hosted a live broadcast via V Live under the title “Thank you for the past 13 years.”
The singer, who wanted to inform his fans of the new personally, revealed his enlistment date, saying, “I will be on a hiatus from May 31st.” He then continued, “I wanted to say thank you first. I lived half of my life as a celebrity and a singer. Please don’t worry; I will be back next year. During this short break, I wanted to have some time to reflect and consider how to grow into a mature singer.”
“I’m worried, scared, anxious about what’s coming, and sometimes really lonely, but the funny thing is, I’m happy when I look back,” he shared. “I love you guys so much. And thanks to you all, I feel like I became someone very special.”
Taemin will drop his solo album before his enlistment. “I think my new solo album will be released in the second week of May,” he added.
According to SM Entertainment, Taemin has passed the audition to join the army band. Per the singer’s request, there will be no separate event on the day of his enlistment.
