True Beauty’s sudden development has left viewers in a world of confusion.
In the latest episode of tvN’s True Beauty, Lim Joo Kyung (Moon Ga Young) proudly revealed her bare face and began a sweet school life with her boyfriend Lee Su Ho (Cha Eun Woo).
Kang Soo Jin’s evil deeds were punished in a way, and with the full support of her mother, Joo Kyung finally enjoyed the pleasure of passing the written test for the national beauty certificate. But when everything seemed to have found the right place, a somewhat “plain” development has suddenly hit a new phase.
Su Ho, who learned about his father’s collapse while he was on a date with Joo Kyung, hurriedly boarded a plane bound for the US. At the airport, the two shared a tearful hug as they bid brief farewell.
Contrary to viewers’ expectations for their hug to decorate the ending scene, the copy “two years later” emerged on the screen, and the reunion of Saebom High School students was shown. And the person sitting next to Joo Kyung was Han Seo Joon (Hwang In Yeop), not Su Ho.
The last five minutes of the episode have thrown viewers into a world of chaos. If the production team’s intention was to create a dramatic tension, you could say that they have accomplished that goal to some point. However, it is impossible to erase the feeling that the sudden flow and unexpected ending that interfered with viewers’ immersion without warning has caused more embarrassment than necessary.
Will the sudden development in the plot be enough to persuade viewers for the remaining two episodes? Attention is focusing on whether True Beauty will be able to come to a satisfying end.
