There will be no exaggeration when we say that IU owned the 2010s.

Melon, Korea’s largest music site, released a chart of the 2010s. This is a chart that counts the number of streaming and downloading songs from 2010 to 2019. This is the top 5 songs – Busker Busker’s “Cherry Blossom Ending,” IU’s “Through the Night,” Park Hyo Shin’s “Wildflower,” BTS’s “Spring Day” and IU’s “Friday.”

While the chart stimulates listeners’ nostalgia, the fact that IU dominated the chart with as many as 11 songs catches the eye. Following “Through the Night” and “Friday,” “Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms” (7th), “Meaning of you” (13th), “Merry Christmas In Advance” (18th), “Good Day” (23rd), “Palette” (32nd), “YOU & I” (36th), “BBIBBI” (68th), “Twenty-three” (80th) and “My Old Story” (88th) made it onto the list.

If you take a closer look into each year, IU’s record is even more impressive. In 2010, “Nagging” led the list, and in 2019, “Blueming” landed at No. 1. This proves that the singer opened the 2010 and ended the 2019, dominating the entire 2010s.

Melon, “We can say that the 2010s were IU’s era. By putting 11 of her songs on the top 100 chart for 2010s, she proved the title ‘God IU.'” They added, “She has achieved unrivaled results as a female solo artist and has certainly proved herself to be a powerhouse. Many artists debuted and have come under the spotlight, but nevertheless, IU’s position in the K-pop scene seems to be stronger than ever.”
