The production team of SBS’s My Little Old Boy has confirmed the exit of Hong Jin Young, who has been embroiled in controversy over plagiarism, and her family.

An official from SBS told 10Asia, “My Little Old Boy will not be dealing with items related to Hong Jin Young for the time being, so her mother will not be participating in the studio recording as well.” He added, “The plagiarism controversy over her master’s thesis is the reason behind the decision.”

In the latest episode of My Little Old Boy, which aired on Nov 29, Hong Jin Young and her sister Hong Sun Young were nowhere to be seen. Even in the studio recording, Jung Woo appeared as a guest, but he was only welcomed by the mothers of Park Soo Hong, Kim Hee Chul, Kim Jong Kook and Lee Tae Sung. The Hong families were also not spotted in the teaser released at the end.

The singer recently came under fire when her master’s thesis was reported to have recorded a 74 percent plagiarism rate in the plagiarism review site Copy Killer. Hong denied the accusation but decided to return her dissertations.

Nevertheless, Hong has pushed ahead with her promotions and appearance on TV shows. However, as the negative opinions mounted, My Little Old Boy also decided to take part in “erasing Hong Jin Young.” The day before, MBC’s Buddy Into the Wild has also cut out Hong from the episode.
