The new Netflix original series Sweet Home, starring Song Kang, Lee Jin Wook, Lee Shin Young and Lee Do Hyun, will be unveiled on December 18.
Today, Netflix announced that they will be releasing Sweet Home next month and unveiled character still photos and a teaser. Based on a webtoon of the same name, Sweet Home is a drama about a bizarre and shocking story that a loner high school student Hyun Soo experiences in an apartment where he moved after losing his family. The original webtoon gained huge popularity with its unique topic of humans becoming monsters because of their desires.
Song Kang plays loner Cha Hyun Soo who steps out into the world after facing a bizarre disaster and will be showcasing exact opposite performances from his previous drama Love Alarm. Lee Jin Wook becomes Pyeon Sang Wook, a former detective who looks more like a gangster. Playing a role that has a scar-covered face and holds a dark secret, Lee Jin Wook will present a dynamic transformation.
Lee Si Young takes on the role of Seo Yi Kyung, a new character added to the series. Through Seo Yi Kyung, a former firefighter from a special forces unit, Lee will show her all-time charisma by confronting monsters with extraordinary judgment and excellent combat skills. Lee Do Hyun plays Lee Eun Hyuk, who leads the residents with his cool-headed judgments.
The released teaser skims through the abandoned apartment from the viewpoint of a monster. A vivid sound, bold camera walking and roar of monsters herald a tense suspense. This upcoming series will capture the residents who got isolated in an apartment after being surrounded by monsters and have to walk on ice as any of the neighbors can turn into monsters anytime, sending a chill down viewers’ spine.
Sweet Home is directed by Mr. Sunshine and Goblin director Lee Eung Bok and penned by Hong So Ri, Kim Hyung Min and Park So Jung. Attention is focusing on whether Sweet Home will create a new Korean Wave following Kingdom.
