BLACKPINK Breaks Record As ‘The Album’ Debuts At No.2 On Billboard 200 And The Official UK Chart

BLACKPINK made K-pop history as ‘The Album’ debuted at No.2 on the Billboard 200!

BLACKPINK became the highest-charting K-pop girl group on the Billboard 200 following the release of their first full-length album.

‘The Album’ also became the highest-charting album by a girl group since US girl group Danity Kane topped the Billboard 200 chart with their album ‘Welcome to the Dollhouse’ in April 2008.

According to Nielsen Music data (released by Billboard), ‘The Album’ sold 110,000 album units in the United States within a week since its release. The album’s total score consists of 81,000 traditional album sales, 2,000 track equivalent album units, and 26,000 streaming equivalent album units.

BLACKPINK’s ‘The Album also debuted at No.2 on the UK Official Albums chart, making it the highest-charting Korean girl group abum in history to accomplish the feat.

“Lovsick Girls,” the title track of the album, alsp topped YouTube’s “Global Youtube Song Top 100” chart in the first week of October as well. The music video for the song became the most watched music video on YouTube in the span of a week.

BLACKPINK sold more than 600,000 copies of ‘The Album’ (excluding global shipments) and broke the first day, first week, and all time record for K-pop girl group albums.
