Gong Yoo, Bae Doo Na, and Lee Joon confirmed their appearances in the upcoming Netflix original series The Silent Sea.
The Silent Sea, which drew much attention as the project where Jung Woo Sung has transformed into a producer, met with Gong Yoo, Bae Doo Na, and Lee Joon. It is a mystery sci-fi thriller that follows a story of elite scientists who set off for the moon to retrieve some unknown samples from an abandoned research station.
Bae Doo Na will play Dr. Song Ji Ahn, an astrobiologist. She joins the team to reveal the cause of the accident at Balhae Base, a research base abandoned on the moon.
Gong Yoo will take on the role of Han Yoon Jae, the leader of the expedition team who has to rely on limited information to lead the vital mission. He considers the safety of the members as the top priority and does not hesitate to sacrifice himself. But because he prioritizes the task of retrieving samples over the past accident, he will often conflict with Dr. Song Ji Ahn.
Lee Joon plays Ryu Tae Seok, a talented engineer and an elite employee of the Ministry of National Defense. Frustrated by the stuffy building he works in, he volunteers for a dangerous mission.
Expectations are high for the three actors’ performance on the moon, also known as the “silent sea,” and their journey to reveal the secrets of the base.
The story is based on the eponymous 2014 short film directed by Choi Hang Yong, who will also be leading the Netflix series. Mother writer Park Eun Gyo will work on the script.
