Ahn Jae Hyun will not join the new season of tvN’s hit entertainment show New Journey to The West.
According to OSEN, Ahn Jae Hyun will not return to the upcoming season of New Journey to The West. Naturally, only Kang Ho Dong, Lee Soo Geun, Eun Ji Won, Kyuhyun, Song Min Ho, and P.O will star in New Journey to The West: Season 8 like the previous season.
Currently, New Journey to The West is preparing for a new season. It was originally scheduled to start the filming earlier this month, but with the re-surge of COVID-19, all production was halted.
The latest season of New Journey to The West, which aired from October last year to January this year, received much love, recording the highest viewership of 6.6%. Ahn Jae Hyun was supposed to join the cast, but decided to drop out when his divorce with Koo Hye Sun got a bit ugly. Fans raised their expectations for his return with season 8, but it seems like it’s unlikely to happen.
Meanwhile, Ahn Jae Hyun officially settled his divorce with Koo Hye Sun last month and is reviewing his next project.
