Han So Hee apologized to the victim from the recent scandal over her mother’s fraud and confessed her tough childhood.
On July 19, Han So Hee wrote a lengthy message on her blog.
“Hello, this is Lee So Hee (her real name).
First of all, I can’t dare to count them all, but I would like to apologize to the victims who wrote their posts while feeling like they were standing at the edge of a cliff. I believe that they are in a situation in which I cannot comfort with any words.
I would also like to sincerely apologize to all the people who were made uncomfortable or hurt through this incident. I am deeply sorry.
I bear this shame and write this in hopes that other victims will not come out.
My parents got divorced when I was about 5 years old, and I was raised in the hands of my grandmother. When I enrolled in high school, I transferred schools to Ulsan, where my mother lived, but I continued to live with my grandmother. After graduation, I moved to Seoul and began pursuing my acting career.
Since I never really had any contacts with my mother, I heard about her debt after I had turned 20, and because she is the daughter of my grandmother and because I am her daughter who has moral duties, I have repaid my mother’s debt even before my debut.
After my debut, through contact from debtors, I learned that she had more unpaid debts that she had borrowed in my name. She had put my name on the documents without my knowledge and the amount of debt I received in my name was too large for me to handle.
I’m just sorry that my carelessness of thinking that the only solution was to repay the debt with my young and immature judgment, resulted in more victims.
Lastly, I would like to apologize again to the victims and everyone who might have been hurt by this incident.“
The incident began the previous day when one of the victims posted a message on an online community titled “The Fraud of the Mother of ‘The World of the Married’ Actress.” The post claimed that Han So Hee’s mother swindled 9.7 million KRW (about 8050 USD) from her.
Meanwhile, later the same day, Han So Hee’s friend left a long comment, drawing attention.
“My friend So Hee. Not Han So Hee, but Lee So Hee is a friend who used smiled even when other kids teased her for not having her parents in elementary school. She is also the kind of person who was happy when her grandmother and grandmother’s friends came to graduation instead of her parents. She never liked to be in debt since middle school, so she was the one who bought snacks for her friends. Even now, that foolish Lee So Hee is a girl who always says, ‘My treat,’ when I try to pay for the meals. When I was in desperate need of money and was trying to work part-time at a pub, she willingly sent me 1.11 million won (about 920 USD) and left only 100,000 KRW (about 83 USD) in her bank. You don’t have to believe me. But I’m writing this since I am ashamed of myself for not calling her as I am tearing up thinking about all the pain she is going through.”
Han So Hee made her debut in 2017 with Reunited Worlds and rose to stardom after starring in JTBC’s hit drama The World of the Married.
