MBC’s The Masked Singer won the Best Returning Format award at 2020 International Format Awards for the first time in Korea, proving the excellence of Korean entertainment shows.

The International Format Awards (IFA) held on June 25 is organized by C21 in association with FRAPA, EMC, and MipFormats. The Masked Singer came home with the International Format Awards award for the first time, establishing itself as a global singing format both in name and reality.

In particular, the Best Returning Format award mainly targets the follow-up season of the season-based program, but the fact that The Masked Singer won the award even though it’s not a seasonal program is drawing much attention. Also, The Masked Singer competed with LEGO Masters, MasterChf, Taskmaster, The Great Bake Off, and Who Bares Wins, making the accomplishment even more meaningful.

Park Jung Kyu, CP (Chief Producer) of the show, said, “’The Masked Singer’ won the award even though it is not a seasonal program. It’s a miracle. I would like to give his honor to all the crew members of the show, who have worked so hard for a long time.”

Meanwhile, the format of The Masked Singer has been exported to more than 50 countries in the past four years and has already been aired in countries, including the US, Australia, Germany, France, Thailand, Mexico, Portugal, and the UK.
