Won Bin‘s attempt to resume his career has once again failed.

According to a source, Won Bin has been in talks to star in new drama Immortal (literal translation). The drama is about a woman, who remembers her past life and repeatedly stays in the cycle of death and reincarnation for 600 years, and a man who became immortal 600 years ago.

It is the next work of director Jang Young Woo, who co-directed Mr. Sunshine, and is written by writer Kwon So Ra, best known for The Guest. This 16-episode drama is a blockbuster drama with a total production cost of more than 40 billion KRW (approx. 33 million USD).

Rumor had it that Won Bin was seriously considering starring in the drama, but he eventually refused the offer. Although the project and script were excellent, it was reported that he felt burdened about returning to the small screen. Immortal is now looking for other actors.

On the other hand, Won Bin has participated in the Korean remake of Still Life since 2016. However, due to differences in the direction of the movie, he rejected the offer at the end of last year.

Won Bin previously tried to appear in a Hollywood film after The Man from Nowhere, but failed due to the failure of last-minute negotiation. He later tried to star in director Lee Chang Dong’s film, but the production was canceled. He also was a part of the discussion of drama That Winter, The Wind Blows from the production stage, but dropped out due to differences in opinions.

Now, for the past 10 years, Won Bin has only been active as a “commercial star.” Will he be able to resume his acting career? Attention is focusing.
