Film Jukdo Surfing Diary, which made headlines for becoming the Premiere of 20th Jeonju International Film Festival, will be released in May.
Jukdo Surfing Diary is the first Korean film about surfing. After spending six years in Yangyang, director Lee Hyun Seung vividly portrays the waves and the people he met in the film.
The film features various stories of life such as sea-lovers, challenges beyond waves and various emotions just like the various shapes of waves. Director Lee Hyun Seung, who has been seeking emotional and stylish mise-en-scéne in the previous works, decided to improvise his production depending on the weather and waves of the day for this work to further pursue the realism. As a result, he was able to create a film that harmonizes documentaries and fiction with the subject of surfing.
Also the director’s passion brought many surf-loving actors to the movie.
Jeon Hye Bin who plays Su Jung, a person who is sick of emotional labor, well expressed the character who learns the true freedom through surfing.
Moreover, veteran actors. including Oh Gwang Rok, Park Ho San and Jung Tae Woo appear, enlivening the story.
