Moon Ga Young and Choi Hyun Wook are set to bring a unique romantic tension to life in the upcoming tvN drama He’s the Black Dragon (literal title), slated for a 2025 premiere.
On July 12th, tvN officially announced the casting of Moon Ga Young and Choi Hyun Wook for the new series He’s the Black Dragon, based on the popular Naver webtoon by author Hye Jin Yang. The story centers around two characters who first meet as adversaries in an online game and reunite 16 years later as boss and employee.
Moon Ga Young will play Baek Soo Jung, the head of the planning team at Yongseong Department Store. Known for her relentless drive, she climbed her way to the top of the industry’s premier department store. Fighting is more familiar to her than patience. However, she has an embarrassing history she’d rather forget—an online game nemesis known as “Black Dragon,” who shows up again in her life as her new boss, Ban Joo Yeon.
Choi Hyun Wook takes on the role of Ban Joo Yeon, the head of strategic planning at Yongseong Department Store. Following a traumatic incident, Ban Joo Yeon hides his true “Black Dragon” persona from his middle school days, and chooses to live as the perfect heir to a chaebol family. Amidst this, he encounters his past online game rival and first love, “Strawberry” Baek Soo Jung, now his subordinate.
The production team commented, “Moon Ga Young is set to charm audiences with her lovely performance. Choi Hyun Wook skillfully navigates between a chic boss and a free-spirited soul driven by his heart. Their undeniable chemistry will be a highlight.”
Meanwhile, He’s the Black Dragon is set to premiere in the first half of 2025.
