Lim Ji Yeon is in talks to headline the new JTBC historical series The Tale of Okssibuin (literal title).
According to a Starnews report on the 17th, Lim Ji Yeon has been cast as the female lead in JTBC’s The Tale of Okssibuin. The actress’ agency Artist Company responded, “It is one of the projects offered to her.”
The Tale of Okssibuin depicts the fierce survival and success story of a female slave during the Joseon era, revealing the true story of a woman whose name, status, and even husband were all fabricated.
Lim Ji Yeon has been offered the role of Gu Deok Yi, a slave born to slave parents. She runs away from the wicked mistress but meets a new kind-hearted mistress to serve and later becomes her adopted daughter. But when she dies, Gu Deok Yi discards her own name and lives a second life as a lady.
This marks Lim Ji Yeon’s third historical drama, following the 2015 movie The Treacherous and the 2016 series The Royal Gambler. But The Tale of Okssibuin will be Lim Ji Yeon’s first project in which she plays the solo female lead role.
Following the success of Netflix’s The Glory, Lim Ji Yeon is set to star in ENA’s Lies Hidden in My Garden (premiere on June 19th) and SBS’s National Death Penalty Vote (literal title). In addition, as of the 1st of last month, Lim Ji Yeon has been publicly dating Lee Do Hyun, with whom she co-starred in The Glory.
