The romance drama Dear. M will kick off at 11.10 p.m. KST on the upcoming 26th. It depicts the story around the mysterious figure ‘M’ who wrote a confession that shook the entirety of Seoyeon University.
Director Park Jin Woo first stated that he was longing for young and trendy content. “I started the project thinking that I should accomplish it before my sense of youth and romance die down,” he wittily said.
Exactly as Park Jin Woo said, Dear. M will be depicting the youths’ romance as young and trendy actors will be joining the show, including Park Hye Su, Jaehyun, Roh Jeong Eui, and Bae Hyun Sung.
The mentioned director also explained that a lot of young people these days often live through a tough reality which includes managing their credits and dealing with job shortages. “A lot of content often tries to gain relatability by portraying these realities. In this regard, Dear. M is a drama that focuses on romance and love, which is something everyone has in the back of their minds.”
Director Seo Joo Wan also emphasized that Dear. M is not about the worldview or stories of the writer nor director. “It is made and refined through thorough coverage and feedback from the people of the same generation as those who attend university,” he added. “Whilst trendy, it is not predictable. And whilst special, it is still relatable.” He also mentioned how there are no exaggerated miracles nor unrealistic superpowers within the drama, but only empathy of young people who are living in the current generation.
Lastly, Seo Joo Wan said, “If we think and communicate about the smaller events of our daily lives – which may not be as stimulating – and what today’s youths prioritize, the drama will be much more pleasant to watch.” Park Jin Woo also said with pride that those who enjoyed Three Guys and Three Girls, Nonstop, and Love Playlist will also like Dear. M.
As such, Dear. M is expected to base its stories on the reality of young people and their lives, instead of stereotypes. The drama’s first episode is to kick off at 11.10 p.m. KST on Friday the 26th.
