EBS will air the documentary “Looking back the 100 Years of Korean Film: My Favorite Korean Film” on May 11 and 18.
“Looking back the 100 Years of Korean Film: My Favorite Korean Film” is a film documentary that delivers the ups and downs of Korean Films from leading directors and actors in the film industry, including Lim Kwon Taek, Bong Joon Ho, Jeon Do Yeon, and Lee Byung Hun.
The documentary takes the viewers as far back to 1919 when Loyal Conventionalism (literal translation) was released at Dansung Temple. More than 20 directors, actors, and producers will deliver the 100-year history of Korean films, which was a history of crisis and challenge.
The first part of “My Love My Movie” will take a closer look at the story of special Korean films from Heavenly Homecoming to Stars, released in 1974, to Parasite, which won both Cannes and the Academy Awards and was celebrated around the world. Actors Lee Byung Hun, Jeon Do Yeon and Ahn Sung Ki, and director Bong Joon Ho will appear and share their own stories and experiences with the viewers.
The second part of “Modern Boy, Go to Dansung Temple” will cover film history from Korea’s first film, Loyal Conventionalism, in 1919 to the heyday of Korean films in the 1960s. The Korean Films and the filmmakers who even survived the Japanese colonial era will present a time to understand Korean movies today.
To mark such a fabulous event, actors Cho Yeo Jung and Ahn Sung Ki have participated in the narration of the documentary.
“Looking back the 100 Years of Korean Film: My Favorite Korean Film” will air on EBS 1TV at 10:40 p.m. on May 11 and 18 KST.
