“The character setting itself was very interesting,” he said at the event. “I had always wanted to work in Japan. When I received the offer for Merry Berry Love, I had high expectations that it would be a very exciting collaboration. My expectations for Imada Mio are also very high.”

Merry Berry Love tells the story of a Korean designer who meets a strawberry farmer on a secluded Japanese island after a series of painful failures and embarks on a new life.

Production is already underway, with Mio Imada currently filming. Ji Chang Wook is scheduled to join the set for the first time this week.

“The drama features themes of humanism and love,” Ji Chang Wook elaborated. “The show will explore how love can blossom across cultural barriers.”

He also gave a preview of his character, who will face a unique challenge: “My character is set to be unable to speak Japanese, so viewers can expect a clumsy, chaotic, but fun first encounter. As the story progresses, we will depict how communication gradually develops.”

Merry Berry Love is scheduled for a global release on Disney Plus in 2026.
