Dispatch reported on May 26th that the husband of Lim Seong Eon is facing accusations of fraud, allegedly misappropriating more than 20 billion won ($15 million).
He reportedly recruited members for a regional housing cooperative project and misused at least 20 billion won. He is currently under investigation and trial for fraud, embezzlement, breach of trust, obstruction of business and concealment of assets, with the total damages estimated to exceed 20 billion won.
It has also been revealed that he has three prior fraud convictions.
In 2007, he was convicted of defrauding investors in Daejeon by falsely claiming that a shopping complex had completed its unit sales. After serving time, he shifted focus to regional housing projects in Osan, Osong, Jiksan, Beomeo, Doan, and Kimcheon Innovation City. However, none of these projects progressed, and he is now facing lawsuits in two of the areas, each amounting to over 10 billion won ($7.5 million).
In response to the allegations, Lim Seong Eon’s agency, Outrun Brothers Company, stated that they are currently checking the facts regarding her husband, identified as businessman Lee.
It has also been reported that this is his third marriage. According to Dispatch, he’s been heard telling people around him, “I’m married to a celebrity—do you think I’d mess with money?”
Due to an overseas travel ban, the couple went on a honeymoon to Jeju Island instead of abroad.
Lim Seong Eon married him in a private ceremony in Seoul on May 17th.
She starred in dramas such as Whenever the Heart Beats, Yeon Gaesomun and Behind the White Tower, and films like Marrying School Girl, Girl by Girl and One Spring Night.
Most recently, she performed in the stage play Pink Lipstick, which ran at KT&G Sangsangmadang Daechi Art Hall until April 11th.
