KBS is bringing a bold new twist to romance dramas this summer. The First Night with the Duke (literal title), starring Seohyun and Ok Taecyeon, will premiere on June 11th, the network confirmed.
Based on the popular Naver web novel of the same name, The First Night with the Duke is a fantasy-romance series that kicks off when the soul of an ordinary college student suddenly inhabits the body of a background extra in a romance novel. But things take a wild turn when that “extra” ends up spending the night with the story’s male lead.
Seohyun plays Cha Seon Chaek, the minor character whose body the “college girl K” takes over. Ok Taecyeon takes on the role of Yi Beon, a royal family member and the novel’s dashing male protagonist.
In the new teaser poster released, Seohyun and Ok Taecyeon lock eyes in traditional hanbok attire, giving a glimpse into the emotionally charged love story that transcends worlds and fate.
The production team stated, “Through the romance between Seohyun and Ok Taecyeon, which transcends not only time and space but also dimensions and fate, we hope to bring to life the ‘escape-from-reality fantasy’ that modern viewers long for,” and added, “We hope audiences will enjoy the delightful butterfly effect brought on by one background character’s unexpected detour.”
The First Night with the Duke is set to air on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
