SM Entertainment is taking a hard stance against online rumors circulating about their newly debuted girl group Hearts2Hearts, warning that legal action is already underway against those spreading false information.

On February 26th, the entertainment powerhouse released a statement through KWANGYA 119 announcing they’ve “confirmed that posts containing false information, malicious slander, and defamation about Hearts2Hearts are being posted and spread.”

The issue emerged two days prior, the very day of Hearts2Hearts’ debut, when some netizens began sharing posts on online communities and social media about a specific member’s school days. At present, these remain unverified claims.

SM Entertainment emphasized in their statement, “Creating and spreading baseless rumors by fabricating false content or unconfirmed facts is clearly illegal.” The agency confirmed they’ve already initiated legal proceedings: “We will respond strongly to these illegal activities without any leniency or settlement,” adding that they “will do our utmost to protect our artists.”

Hearts2Hearts is an eight-member girl group that debuted with their first single The Chase. The group is scheduled to begin their music show appearances on Mnet’s M Countdown on February 27th.
