Koo Jun Yup has announced an indefinite suspension of his activities in Taiwan, according to local media outlet ET Today.
The former K-pop sensation has pulled out of multiple high-profile appearances, including an upcoming flash mob event scheduled for this month. The star has also canceled his appearance at next month’s medical center opening, as he grapples with the recent loss of his wife Barbie Hsu.
ET Today reported on the 19th that Koo has suspended “all public events including DJ shows, press conferences, and fan meetings” for an unspecified period. Following the funeral services of his late wife, Koo has remained in Taiwan, staying close to family members.
In a heartfelt statement about funeral arrangements, Koo expressed, “I want an independent space where I can visit Barbie anytime,” adding that “after discussions with family, we’ve decided to choose a different burial site.” This decision has led to a postponement of the final funeral proceedings.
The timeline for Koo’s return to public life remains uncertain. Local media reports indicate that the artist will take time to heal from his emotional wounds before making any decisions about resuming his career.
Barbie Hsu passed away on February 2nd in a Tokyo hospital. She had been hospitalized with flu symptoms before her untimely death. At the time, Koo shared his devastating loss, stating, “I feel like my insides are being torn apart, with indescribable sadness and suffering.”
