Single’s Inferno 4 is certainly firing up our souls as we continue to cling to our seats wondering what will happen with each and every encounter between couples we ship and ones who seem destined to be together.
We are starting to realize why Lee Si An is deemed the fan favorite and more of the red flags that were raised from Yuk Jun Seo seem to be wavering like the hearts of all the girls on the island.
As the episodes progressed, viewers could start weeding out who may have feelings for who and feel pity for members who have yet to experience paradise and show more sides of themselves. After the introduction of new contestants Park Hae Jin and Kwon Ki Ha, tensions arose and the interest in the new members became something we expected to see more of in episodes seven or eight, but things centered around particular love interests. While Ki Ha seems to be getting left in the dust, Hae Jin does experience her own struggles with trying to understand Kim Jeong Su, the eldest member, who appears to be very ambiguous with his words and feelings. Jeong Su claims he is being genuine when caring for everyone, male or female, but it is misleading according to Hae Jin and the hosts. Jeong Su’s behavior becomes more evident as he says things like “I like Si An. I’m tired, I should sleep. But if we stopped talking, wouldn’t it be a shame?” to other females. Red Flags soaring – is he just an attention seeker or really sincere?
We finally learn Kim Tae Hwan is a lot older than we expected (31) despite his childish demeanor and he is also a DJ (back to seeming childish for foreign viewers I’d say). We also get to learn more about Bae Ji Yeon and her career as a spatial designer and witness her establish more of a connection with Tae Hwan in paradise. Although they seem like a very honest, wholesome couple, Ji Yeon is confident in suggesting Tae Hwan meets others as they both agree they haven’t made as many successful connections as they wished for. However, their time together got nowhere near as spicy as Si An and Jun Seo.
Right now all eyes are glued to Si An as she keeps circling around who she thinks is the best match for her. She opens up to Jun Seo over a night of drinking whisky but Jun Seo aggressively pushes forward and creates huge tension between them. Jun Seo pretends to be taking Theo’s side and interests at heart but realizes he has a great chance with Si An and makes his desires, not his intentions, for Si An clear. On that night, he somewhat provokes Si An to become emotional and even cry, After that, he swoons in to console her and makes a move to sleep in the same bed as her (a first for the show) and he even cuddles up with her. A HUGE leap for Korean dating reality television and towards Si An’s rattled heart. Now fans can only feel pity for Theo as he waited earnestly for Si Ah feeling that he already won her heart.
“I missed you” Theo said as he handed Si An flowers he had hidden and was saving for Si An after she returned from paradise. Si An suddenly became awkward in front of Theo and we all know she felt guilty for not the time spent with Jun Seo but HOW she spent it. Theo confessed his feelings for Si An saying “I only want you” and now fans are quite torn up over the situation. The hosts do remind viewers that they are in an unusual environment with no phones and familiar people so it is easy to feel flustered when so many love interests are forced in the contestants’ direction.
The men have a traditional Korean wrestling match called Ssireum and Jeong Su exhibits more strength than we could ever imagine as he competes with Jun Seo like a bull. A lot of male contestants surprised us with their strength this time, and the losing outcome was a shock as well. However, Jun Seo took the lead and boastfully walked off the island hand in hand with Si An and plans to take it to the next level – as he firmly told Theo before leaving.
