Following its success in webtoons, games, and animation, the Korean IP powerhouse Solo Leveling is set to conquer yet another medium with a live-action drama adaptation.

Kakao Entertainment announced on Tuesday that their media division is currently developing the script for a live-action drama adaptation of Solo Leveling, which will feature real actors portraying the beloved characters from the hit series.

The story follows Sung Jin Woo, a hunter once considered the weakest of his kind, who obtains mysterious powers and transforms into the world’s most formidable hunter. The webtoon, based on the web novel of the same name, has already proven its global appeal through successful game and animation adaptations.

The franchise’s latest triumph came with the release of its second season of animation on January 5th, which topped Amazon Prime’s TV show rankings in Japan and secured spots in Netflix’s top 10 lists across 11 countries.

A Kakao Entertainment representative stated, “Solo Leveling has established itself as a representative K-content IP,” adding that “through continued investment in this IP, we will continue to make history together.”

To celebrate the animation’s success, Kakao Entertainment is launching a special promotion, offering emoticons and other digital goods to webtoon readers until February 1st.
