BLACKPINK member Jisoo won over global fans with her incredible spice tolerance and easygoing charm during her recent appearance on the hit talk show Hot Ones.
The episode, released July 31st on YouTube, features the classic Hot Ones format where celebrity guests answer deep-dive interview questions while eating chicken wings coated in increasingly scorching hot sauces.
During the interview, Jisoo shared that her bandmate Jennie encouraged her to join the show. “We’ve always loved spicy food,” Jisoo said. “I really wanted to test my own limits after seeing how intensely the other members reacted on the show.”
Explaining her passion for heat, Jisoo noted the difference in regional flavors. “Korean spicy food has a touch of sweetness to it rather than just a sharp burn,” she explained. “Eating spicy food isn’t a struggle for me. It’s how I relieve stress. Lately, I’ve been eating a lot of extra-spicy tteokbokki.”
When host Sean Evans asked about her pre-show routine 90 minutes before a stadium concert, Jisoo gave a surprising answer: “Don’t be shocked, but I eat spicy food.”
“It actually helps warm up my vocal cords,” she elaborated. “It makes me sweat, loosens up my body, and opens up my throat, so building up that heat makes singing much easier.” She also shared her ultimate flight snack hack—dipping crushed Shin Ramyun noodles into the seasoning packet and pairing it with coffee-flavored milk.
The highlight of the episode was Jisoo effortlessly breezing through the lineup with a smile. When Jennie previously faced the show’s 135,600-Scoville-unit sauce, she jumped out of her seat screaming, “Help me!”
Jisoo, by contrast, barely flinched, saying, “Suddenly spicy.” Even as she began to sweat near the end, she stayed remarkably calm—outlasting the teary-eyed host and conquering the infamous final “Last Dab” wing with ease.
Closing out the show, Jisoo shared a sweet message about her upcoming projects: “I hope everyone looks forward to seeing how I bring my own style to everything I do. Please keep supporting and showing love!”
