Ji Ye Eun opened up for the first time about her past battle with thyroid cancer on the Netflix variety show Jae Suk’s B&B Rules!.
The star shared an update on her current health in the episode released on May 26th.
While preparing meals with cast members Yoo Jae Suk, Lee Kwang Soo, and Byun Woo Seok, Ji Ye Eun joked, “I think I understand a mother’s heart now. The kind that just wants you to eat what’s given.”
Yoo Jae Suk then turned to her and said, saying, “Ye Eun, you’ve fully recovered your health now.” She smiled and replied, “Yes. Fully.” Yoo Jae Suk admitted he had no idea because she looked so healthy, adding, “That’s such a relief.”
Ji Ye Eun then spoke about her past cancer diagnosis for the first time. “It really is a relief,” she said. “They told me even a 0.1cm tumor could metastasize. But I had quite a few of them.”
Later that evening, the cast gathered around a campfire. Yoo Jae Suk encouraged everyone by saying, “Throw anything you want to let go of into the fire. You can also make a wish for something you want.”
As she stared into the flames, Ji Ye Eun quietly began to cry, and the other participants comforted her.
Yoo Jae Suk then shared with the group, “As many of you may know from the news, Ye Eun was very sick. Thankfully, she recovered her health, and I’m so grateful she could be here with us today.”
Last August, her agency CP Entertainment announced that Ji Ye Eun would temporarily halt activities to focus on her recovery and health. Following medical advice, she took a three-week hiatus beginning in September.
At the time, some reports speculated that she had stepped away due to hypothyroidism, but her agency kept the details private, calling it “personal medical information.”
