Kim Seon Ho has become the latest star under Fantagio to face allegations of tax evasion, sparking intense scrutiny over the agency’s management practices as it deals with a similar case involving Cha Eun Woo.
Sports Kyunghyang reported on February 1st that Kim Seon Ho is suspected of using a family-owned corporation to evade taxes, a method similar to one allegedly used by labelmate Cha Eun Woo.
According to the report, Kim established a performance planning company in January 2024, registered at his home address in Seoul. Kim is listed as the CEO, with his parents serving as internal directors and auditors.
The report claims that the company is a “paper company” set up to hide income and build personal wealth. It alleges that Kim paid his parents’ salaries through the company, with the money being transferred back to him, and used corporate credit cards for personal expenses and entertainment.
Fantagio quickly denied the claims. In an official statement, the agency said that Kim Seon Ho has a personal exclusive contract with them and follows all tax laws.
“We confirm that there are no issues with Kim Seon Ho’s contract or activities at Fantagio,” the agency stated.
Regarding the family-owned company mentioned in the report, Fantagio explained, “The one-person corporation was created for theater production, not for tax evasion.” They added that the company has been inactive for over a year since Kim joined Fantagio and is currently undergoing closure procedures.
The timing of these allegations has stirred further controversy. Kim is signed to the same agency as Cha Eun Woo, who recently received a massive back tax bill of about 20 billion won ($13.6 million) for allegedly using a similar family corporation scheme with his mother.
With two top stars facing similar tax accusations under the same agency, growing concerns have emerged about Fantagio’s management. The recurring nature of these scandals suggests the agency may struggle to avoid responsibility for their artists’ financial arrangements, even though it’s too early to assign full blame.
