Extraordinary Attorney Woo is officially moving into early production, with Season 2 now underway as scriptwriting progresses.
According to industry sources on January 29th, writer Moon Ji Won is currently working on the Season 2 script. A source confirmed, “Production for Season 2 is moving forward as planned, and the writer is writing the script as we speak.”
The hit legal drama, which originally aired in 2022, follows Woo Young Woo, a rookie lawyer with a genius-level intellect who is also on the autism spectrum. The role, played by Park Eun Bin, captured widespread attention, with the series finale drawing a 17.5% viewership rating—the highest ever recorded for an ENA drama.
Following the show’s massive success, calls for a second season quickly grew. Production company ASTORY initially aimed to launch Season 2 in 2024 and signed a scriptwriting contract with Moon Ji Won in 2023. However, delays in the writing process pushed back both the production timeline and casting discussions.
In a previous interview, Park Eun Bin noted that she had not yet been contacted regarding her return for Season 2, reflecting the project’s extended pre-production phase.
Once script development and casting are finalized, the series is expected to move into filming. Attention is now focused on whether Season 2 will reunite much of the original creative team, including its director, writer, cast, and key production staff.
ASTORY believes the drama’s growing global footprint could help accelerate Season 2’s production. The company confirmed that remakes are currently being developed in the United States, Japan, and Europe, with ASTORY directly overseeing everything from early pre-production and adaptation to scheduling and distribution.
“This global expansion could become a driving force in speeding up the production of Season 2,” an ASTORY official said.
