Kwon Sang Woo is pulling back the curtain on family life and one unforgettable scene that became legend.
A preview released January 7th for You Quiz on the Block shows Kwon sharing rare photos of his kids—his 17-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter—marking the first time he’s publicly revealed their faces.
The actor also revisited his iconic 2005 “snow crab” scene. Shot after an overnight ski-resort shoot, the moment shows his character hiding tears beneath a hat after seeing his former love with a friend. “The falling tears were the key point,” he said, recalling how the director immediately gave a thumbs-up. “I even surprised myself—though it somehow turned into a meme.”
Celebrating 25 years since his debut, Kwon spoke candidly about aging and family. “My kids don’t really play along with my jokes anymore,” he said with a laugh. “They’re all grown up.”
At home, he added, there’s little star treatment. “My daughter has zero interest,” he joked. His son’s reaction was even simpler: after spotting Kwon’s movie poster at a theater while seeing Avatar with friends, he just said, “Dad, your movie’s out,” and moved on.
Kwon grew reflective when talking about fatherhood. “I didn’t have a role model for being a dad,” he admitted. “So when I think about my son, I feel a bit tender. I was new at this—I was clumsier with my first child.”
He also shared lighthearted marriage wisdom with wife Son Tae Young, crediting two “magic words”—‘Maybe not’ and ‘Anyway’—for keeping the peace. Still, the pressure hasn’t eased. “Every new project feels like I’m standing at the edge of a cliff,” he confessed.
